Our June 6 meeting begins with the 2017 Flower Show Award Presentation. A first-time winner of the Best Flower of Show Award goes to Chris Welcher for 'Iguazu Falls' a recently-registered Richard Klug hybrid. The ESA glass plate awards are designed and crafted by artist member Pat Ballard.  

We'll unveil the complete 2016 registrations of the  ever-popular hybrids of  Evelyn Shiraki, Darryl Miyamoto, Richard Klug, Gary Brandfellner, Jim Nones, Don Patterson, & Don Burnett, while  Germany is well represented by hybridizers Rudolf Hessing and Heiner Dusterhaus.  Some of these hybrids were exhibited and won awards at our recent flower show.

The evening concludes with the continuation of  our "Member's Garden" Series.  This time we feature Don Patterson's collection of epiphyllum hybrids and  his premium collection of cacti that are perennial winners at the San Diego Cactus & Succulent Shows.  Don is the 2015  honoree of the ESA Founders' Award.  Some of Don's hybrids include 'Smarty Pants', 'Mr P' (the name his students called him), 'C'est Magnifique', 'Don Oro', "Heather' and 'Michele Davis'.
